Evelop, part of Econcern, and NS
Poort (the Dutch railway company) signed a partnership agreement for
the development of a sustainable energy office building in the city of
Utrecht. The building, with a gross floor area of 25.000m2, will be
developed in the area near Utrecht Central Station.
A healthy mix of existing and new technologies is planned for the sustainable energy solutions of the building. For example heat and cold storage, but also new technologies like a direct current electricity grid. Starting point is that all solutions are financially and technically sound and at the same time give direction to sustainable energy solutions in the future. The choice of location - a train station area - contributes to a decrease of CO2 emissions. The office building is within easy reach for users and visitors alike by public transport. Dirk Berkhout, member of the board of Econcern and responsible for Evelop:"We are very pleased to be able to develop a sustainable energy office building on this unique location. Furthermore we are enthusiastic about the partnership with NS Poort - this is a complimentary agreement. We share a similar vision when it comes to developing a commercial and industrial building with integrated sustainable energy solutions." Pamela Boumeester, director of NS Poort: "We are thrilled by this unique partnership. In this construction Evelop and NS Poort work closely together as sustainable project developers. This kind of partnership fits perfectly in the view of NS Poort. Not only in the field of sustainable energy have solutions, but we also found the expansion of our long term relationships very important."
