Econcern core activities taken over by Eneco
Utrecht, 15 June 2009 (Econcern NV) – At the request of the administrators, the court in Utrecht pronounced the bankruptcy of Econcern N.V., Ecostream International B.V. and Evelop International B.V.

Further, the Amsterdam court granted on 12 June 2009 suspension of payments to Betronic Hybrid Circuits B.V. and Betronic Nederland B.V.

Finally, the court in Utrecht on 12 June 2009 pronounced the bankruptcy of Ecofys International B.V., Evelop Projects B.V. and Ecostream Netherlands B.V.

Immediately after their appointment, administrators Louis Deterink and Willem Jan van Andel organized a ‘controlled auction’ with the assistance of ING Corporate Finance.

Today, agreement was reached with Eneco to take over parts of Ecofys and Evelop, and parts of activities in biomass. Both parties hope soon to also reach an agreement to take over the activities of Ecostream. The deal will need to be approved by the appropriate competition authorities.

The curators are continuing talks with other parties to take over the remaining activities.
‘We are happy that in Eneco, with its excellent reputation in sustainable energy, we have found a suitable buyer. Their acquisition of core activities will mean over 400 people, in the Netherlands and abroad, will keep their jobs,” said Louis Deterink and Willem Jan van Andel.

Econcern presently employs 1100 people worldwide.
