ECONCERN TO DEVELOP CORPORATE WIND FARM

FUJIFILM takes major step to reduce carbon footprint

Evelop, the project development arm of sustainable energy solutions company Econcern, and FUJIFILM Manufacturing Europe B.V. have signed a letter of intent for the development of a corporate wind farm. FUJIFILM chose Evelop over other contenders for it's proven knowledge in integrating wind farms in a complex industrial environment.

The letter of intent marks the start of the project, with construction expected to begin in 2011. Once complete, the wind farm will produce between 15,000 and 24,000 megawatt hours per year; enough to provide between 10 to 20% of the energy consumption of the company's production plant in Tilburg, where the wind farm will be located.

The development, comprising between three and five wind turbines, is expected to stimulate similar projects by neighbouring companies.

FUJIFILM chose Evelop because of its reputation for successfully developing wind farms in complex industrial environments. The project reflects FUJIFILM's drive to reduce its carbon footprint. On November 3rd, the municipality, the industry park management and FUJIFILM signed the agreement to erect the wind turbines on the industrial site Vossenberg in Tilburg.

Peter Struik, President of FUJIFILM Manufacturing Europe B.V. said: "In the tender Evelop has shown thorough understanding of the complexity of this project. Their solution demonstrated out of the box thinking and an ability to get the best out of a challenging situation. This, combined with their track record and solid financial proposals, has led us to select Evelop. FUJIFILM will also explore further cooperation with other Econcern subsidiaries, such as Ecofys, the strategic consultant division, with the aim of strengthening our climate neutral entrepreneurship"

Dennis Lange, managing director of Evelop, said, "This project shows once more how Evelop, in collaboration with other Econcern subsidiaries, develops tailor made projects for large organisations. Projects like this one are made to meet the specific demands of a company's own sustainable energy policy. The FUJIFILM project illustrates how we fulfil our mission to provide a sustainable energy supply for everyone."
