Evelop develops offshore wind farm in Germany in cooperation with Plambeck Neue Energien

Utrecht, Friday 16 November 2007 - Evelop will build the offshore wind farm project “Gode Wind I” in cooperation with the wind farm developer Plambeck Neue Energien. Evelop, a subsidiary of the Dutch Econcern Group, acquires the majority of the project company „Plambeck Neue Energien Gode Wind I GmbH“. This project is one of the first German offshore wind farms, and is comparable with the Dutch offshore wind farm Q7, which is one of Evelop’s landmark projects currently under construction.

The required approval for the project “Gode Wind I” by the Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (Bundesamt für Seeschifffahrt und Hydrographie - BSH) was granted in August 2006. The offshore wind farm project “Gode Wind I” will be realised in the North Sea. The farm will consist of 80 wind turbines with a rated power between 250 and 400 MW, depending on the choice of the wind turbines. This will be sufficient to power approximately 250.000 en 350.000 European households with sustainable energy.

Evelop strongly believes in the offshore wind opportunities for Western Europe and foresees Germany to be one of the leading countries in this respect. Including “Gode Wind I”, Evelop now has thirteen offshore wind farms under development in six Western European countries and had approximately 2200 MW of capacity in its offshore wind pipeline.

Dennis Lange, Managing Director of Evelop International: “The partnership with Plambeck Neue Energien AG offers us the strategic position to become a major player in the German offshore market. The “Gode Wind I” project is one of the next three offshore wind farms in our portfolio that will start construction before 2011. It brings us closer to our mission: ‘a sustainable energy supply for everyone’.”

“This partnership with Evelop is an essential contribution to the further development of Plambeck Neue Energien AG. Above all we consider this offshore project as a cornerstone of the future development of the group", explain Dr Wolfgang von Geldern and Martin Billhardt, the members of the board of Plambeck Neue Energien AG.
