Evelop takes over UK wind developer

Utrecht, Thursday 29 November 2007 - This week Evelop International has acquired wind developer Breeze Renewable Energy Ltd. Evelop - a subsidiary of Netherlands-based Econcern - is already active in the UK offshore wind energy market with Scira, a project in the Wash near Sheringham. By completing the acquisition of Breeze and their renewable project portfolio (160 MW), Evelop has also acquired a significant stepping stone into the UK onshore wind energy market.

Breeze Renewable Energy was formed in 2002. At first the company concentrated on market analysis and the development of regional and national policy relating to renewable energy. Since 2004 the company’s main focus has been identification and development of renewable energy projects in the UK. At this stage three wind energy projects are in the consenting stages and a number of other potential wind energy projects are under consideration and development.

Evelop’s ambition goes further than wind energy alone. The company is also committed to utilise its wealth of experience in developing, owning and operating biomass energy projects and sustainable energy buildings to expand the portfolio of operations across the whole of the UK.

Rick Wasser, Director Evelop Renewables: “The UK renewable energy market is very interesting for us. I am convinced that with the current political climate the UK offers us great possibilities in the various renewable energy technologies. Herewith we are contributing to our mission ‘a sustainable energy supply for everyone’.”
